Kelly Thomas grew up in Kingwood, Texas, though she spent five of her childhood years in Indonesia. She went to Boston University (go Terriers!), where she developed a deep love of college football. After undergrad, she completed her masters at Boston Conservatory and is currently working on her doctorate at UGA (go Dawgs?).
She began taking improv classes at ImprovBoston in 2007, after a friend who lived near the theater offered to allow Kelly to park at her house. This, along with the break from grad school and work stress that improv provided, was a huge incentive. Once she relocated to Atlanta, she joined the cast of Automatic Improv in the summer of 2010! She also teaches Automatic Improv classes.
When she’s not on stage with the Automatic Improv cast, she’s singing songs all day with children as a music teacher, playing in an Irish band called Keltic Kudzu or playing violin with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra.
It’s fortunate that she has teacher summers, because Kelly is a world traveler. She’s on a quest to visit 100 countries, and having been to all seven continents, she’s well on her way.
