The HUGE news:
We are very pleased to announce you’ll once again be able to get your Automatic Improv fix every weekend! Starting February 22 you can “bust into your weekend laughing” with Automatic Improv EVERY single Friday at Fabrefaction Theatre! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Fabrefaction Theatre, allow me to briefly introduce you.
Since its inception, Fabrefaction has produced more than 30 shows, including two new works and 15 educational productions. The Odd Couple starts February 14th and runs through March 3rd. We’ll actually get to use their set during the first couple weeks of our shows. It will be fun to incorporate it!
Fabrefaction’s education program for kids and teens is top-notch. Andy, Bill and I recently saw their latest educational production of Little Shop of Horrors. It was really impressive and stocked full of talented young performers. We look forward to introducing their students to improv and our students to scripted theatre. It will be a lovely marriage.
Fabrefaction is run by a passionate and professional staff; we all hit it off immediately! I’ve become a quick fan of Christina Hoff, Fabrefaction’s Artistic Director. She co-founded Fabrefaction with colleagues from NYU in 2007. Christina has been involved in more than 50 productions in the past five years as a Producer, Director, Designer, and Actor. Yeah, FIFTY. Insanity! We are also working with Evelyn Hoff (Executive Director), Tom Colston (Manager) and Allison Michalke (Artistic Administrative Assistant). Click here to get more info on these really groovy folks!
Fabrefaction is located in the emerging West Midtown district (999 Brady Avenue, Atlanta GA 30318). Once heavily industrial, today West Midtown features urban lofts, art galleries, live music venues, retail centers and some of the best dining options in the city. Some of my favorite things about West Midtown include beer and bocce ball at Ormsby’s, a latte from Octane, shrimp corn chowder from Taqueria Del Sol, the sale rack at Anthropologie, a slice of pizza from Antico, farm-to-table deliciousness at Miller Union (directly neighboring Fabrefaction)… I could go on and on, especially about the arts scene. Some of my favorite venues (aside from Fabrefaction) in the area include The Goat Farm, King Plow Arts Center and Terminal West. Whether you start or end with Automatic Improv, you can make a night of it in West Midtown!
To recap: Automatic Improv EVERY Friday starting February 22 at 10:30 p.m. at Fabrefaction Theatre!
Here’s a few extra tidbits worth knowing about the new space…
- Cheap beer and wine all night long!
- There’s street parking, but also complimentary valet, and those dudes are FAST. The night I was there, there were four guys sprinting like clockwork for cars. It was genuinely impressive.
- Our shows still contain adult humor, but mature teens accompanied by a parent are welcome.
Get pumped! There’s about to be a whole lotta Automatic in your face!!!!!!
